Space understanding for everyone
A society where space science is part of everyday education, and where the discoveries and industries beyond Earth are built by people from every background and every country.
Centre for Space Studies & Research
SPACE 1 brings learning, research and wonder together. Study space science, help build the technologies that reach beyond Earth, and step inside the cosmos.
Home
SPACE 1 is a centre for space studies and research. We teach space science to students, professionals and curious families, run research and engineering projects, and are building a cosmic experience campus where anyone can walk through the universe.
We start as an education initiative today and grow, step by step, into a research and innovation centre and then a university and experience campus.

A society where space science is part of everyday education, and where the discoveries and industries beyond Earth are built by people from every background and every country.
To provide rigorous, accessible space education; to carry out research and engineering that serves humanity; and to create experiences that make the universe feel close.

Six places to begin, from our nearest neighbour to the edge of what we can observe.
384,400 km away and the next destination for human exploration, with water ice waiting in its polar shadows.
A day lasts 24 hours 37 minutes. Olympus Mons rises about 22 km, nearly three times the height of Everest.
Saturn’s rings span roughly 280,000 km but are often only about ten metres thick.
More than 6,000 are confirmed, from lava worlds to temperate planets that might hold liquid water.
Gravity so strong that light cannot escape. The first image of one was released in 2019.
The Milky Way holds hundreds of billions of stars. Our nearest large neighbour, Andromeda, is 2.5 million light-years away.

Our research programmes start from questions that matter: where will space resources come from, how do we watch our own planet more closely, and how do we protect it from asteroid impacts?
